The BIG BEER List
Brews of considerable size and/or stature…
- Russian River Consecration
- (Santa rosa, CA)
- A dark ales aged in 100% Cabernet Sauvignon barrels for 4 to 8 months. Consecration is fermented in this bottle to create its carbonation - a process commonly used to make fine Champagne and sparkling wine. Spent yeast forms a thin layer of sediment in the bottle, adding yet another layer of complexity and flavors of Sour Currant and wood.

- Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale
- (Escondido, CA)
- First brewed in 2007 as Stone 11th Anniversary Ale, this beer was an instant hit. With us. Other folks with great taste loved it too, but we were focused on how much we liked it, and we felt it was truly sublime. That euphoria didn’t last long though, as it was soon replaced with the grim reality that when we sold out of it there wouldn’t be any more. For Us. And that was simply unacceptable. So, we are now blessing ourselves and you the enlightened, with this beer on a full time basis. Thusly, you may now revel in your own self righteousness as you see fit with this glorious example of ours. You are genuinely welcome, as it is our pleasure. . ABV is 8.7%
- 22 oz. bottle . . . $17.95
- Tröegs the Flying
Mouflan
- (Harrisburg, PA)
- The Flying Mouflan was #4 in the "Scratch Beer Series" begun by John and Chris Trogner and their brewing staff in 2007, producing one-offs based on recipes the brothers developed in the mid-’90s when they were considering opening a brewpub rather than a production brewery. The medal-win in Denver last October convinced the brothers to make the barleywine-style ale the first beer to come out of the Scratch program and be added to the production roster. ABV is 9.3%

Unibroue Quatre-Centième
- (Quebec, Canada)
- A limited edition release commemorating the 400th anniversary of the founding of Quebec City. Golden in color, with rich, creamy foam, intriguing spice aroma and a refreshing flavor profile. It offers a bouquet of lightly roasted malt and aromatic spices with characteristic effervescence of Unibroue's refermented ales. Light-bodied yet exceptionally well-balanced, Quatre-Centieme is malty and mildly sweet, with spice accent and a subtle, palate warming finish.

- North Coast 12th Anniversary
- (Fort Bragg, CA)
- Seems hard to believe that we’ve been making Old Rasputin for 10 years now, but that’s what’s happened. And, to celebrate the occasion, we’ve brewed a special small batch that’s been aged for 9 months in some 12 year-old bourbon barrels. It’s bottled in 500 ml bottles with a cork and wired finish and a special commemorative label ---- and it’s amazing. The depth, intensity and complexity of the flavor profile make it a worthy tribute to this fine beer. ABV is 11.2%
